Dr. Sylvia Choy had received her optometric degree from State University of New York College of Optometry in 2009. Prior to that, she had studied classical music in her undergraduate years at Binghamton University where she enjoyed performing as the pianist for the university orchestra. As a young child who wore glasses at the age of six, she had always been curious and interested in the eyes and the visual system, and this ultimately led her to pursue optometry. She is delighted to be able to make a positive impact on others’ vision every day! Her training included ocular disease externships at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in New Haven, CT and low vision rehabilitation at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Northport, NY.
Dr. Choy has a personal interest in myopia management utilizing Ortho-Keratology lenses, Atropine therapy, and also MiSight contact lenses. She also offers specialty contact lens fittings such as RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) lenses and scleral lenses for special eyes. She loves spending time with her family hiking, listening to music, and believes that great ideas always start with a vision!
